Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the 40080 pump from its own battery or a car outlet?
The documented inflation source is the built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery; a 12V vehicle-socket or battery-clamp pumping plan is not documented. Slime says the USB-C charging cable is included, the USB-A charger block is not, and a 2.1A USB outlet takes about four hours for a full charge. The page says not to charge it from a computer.
Explore this need in the finder →Will the 40080 stop at a selected tire pressure?
Slime documents Inflate-Right target stopping on the exact 40080 page and manual. The manual also allows use of the on/off switch. Its separate idle-time shutoff is not the same as target stopping; neither feature proves gauge accuracy. The manual limits continuous operation to 10 minutes followed by about 25 minutes of cooling and says not to leave the pump unattended.
Explore this need in the finder →How many tires can one 40080 charge inflate?
The exact product page and manual both state three standard car tires from flat to full per charge, with a 2,600 mAh battery. The four-minute example is separately specified for one P205/55R16 tire from 0 to 35 PSI. Neither source establishes the same outcome for other tire sizes, target pressures, temperatures or battery conditions, and no independent runtime test is available.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the 40080 handle my bicycle valve or ball?
Its exact package marks bicycle and balls/inflatables, and the page describes multipurpose adapters for balls. That does not establish a Presta adapter or the fit of your specific bicycle valve. Slime supplies no ball-pressure accuracy range; use the ball maker's pressure guidance, stay present and obey the 10-minute/25-minute manual limits.
Explore this need in the finder →The Slime Cordless Rugged Tire Inflator (part 40080) is the battery-powered counterpart in this pair of current Slime digital inflators. It combines a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, a digital display, Inflate-Right stopping at a selected pressure and a body with rubberized housing and a stable base. The manual specifies a 2,600 mAh battery, 0.5 CFM at zero pressure and a two-foot hose; Slime's exact package also marks car, off-road, bicycle, balls and inflatables. These details make it easier to carry away from a vehicle, but the short reach and charging routine are part of the trade.
Battery convenience has a charging routine
The 40080 operates from its internal rechargeable battery. Slime's product page says the unit uses a USB-C input and includes the charging cable, but the USB-A wall adapter is not included. The page says a 2.1A USB outlet takes about four hours for a full charge, directs owners to recharge after use and every four months, and says not to charge it from a computer. The manual reports 2,600 mAh; the reviewed source set does not provide a battery voltage or an independently measured runtime.
Both the page and manual say a full charge fills three car tires from flat to full. That is useful as a maker claim, but neither source defines a tire size, starting-to-final pressure or a comparative test condition for the three-tire figure. It is not a guarantee for your set of tires. The page's four-minute car claim is more precisely bounded by the manual: its footnote names a P205/55R16 standard tire from 0 to 35 PSI. A different tire, pressure change, ambient temperature, battery condition or setup can take a different time.
Short reach, selected stop and display range
The manual lists a two-foot hose and two-foot total reach. Without a vehicle power cord to extend the arrangement, that means the compressor needs to sit near the valve. For a car, plan where the unit can stand and whether its cord-free access is more useful than the longer placement range of the 40047 or 40088. Its manual lists 0.5 CFM at zero pressure; that single-point specification should not be compared as if it were a measured flow rate across a tire's pressure range.
Inflate-Right is a real distinction from the manual-control Slime 40084: the 40080 page and manual describe selecting a target and stopping when the indicated pressure reaches it. The page separately says the unit switches off after a short period of non-use. Idle shutoff is not the same function as stopping at a selected tire pressure. Its digital scale is marked 0–99 PSI (0–7 bar); no accuracy tolerance or maximum working-pressure rating is supplied. Check the vehicle's recommended cold pressure and do not treat the top of the scale as a safe target.
Use, adapters and the two-lever instruction conflict
The exact 40080 package graphic marks passenger cars, off-road use, bicycles and balls/inflatables, but not trucks/SUVs or rafts/mattresses. Slime's page does mention multipurpose adapters for rafts, balls and other inflatables, so that copy and the package's unmarked raft/mattress category do not fully agree. This assessment does not recommend raft or mattress inflation based on that mismatch. The product page and package support car, bicycle and ball categories, but a category icon does not establish a particular tire's fit, a Presta adapter or a ball-pressure range.
The pump's manual says not to run it for more than 10 minutes at a time, to cool it for approximately 25 minutes between uses, and not to leave it unattended. Keep inlet and outlet openings clear, use it on a hard clean surface and avoid enclosed spaces; the manual warns that vehicle exhaust can be dangerous without ventilation. For a ball, use the ball maker's pressure guidance and stay with the inflation. Neither an idle shutoff nor target-stop marketing establishes unattended safety for every task.
There is also a genuine hose-head instruction conflict. Slime's exact page says the updated green lever should be lifted to lock after pressing the head onto the valve. The 40080 manual's tire steps instead say to attach the head and push the lever down to lock. Do not transfer one model's instructions to another or guess from color alone: inspect the exact head and use the manual that matches the unit in hand. The manual's adapter illustration shows how to unlock and lock the accessory connection, but that is not a substitute for checking the supplied kit.
Compared with the 40047 and 40084
The 40080 is the choice in this pair for an internal battery, while the 40047 uses a 12V vehicle outlet rated at least 15A and has a stated 12-foot total reach. The 40047 manual lists 0.95 CFM at zero pressure; the 40080 lists 0.5 CFM and two feet of total reach. Both document a selected-pressure stop, both show a 4-minute P205/55R16 0–35 PSI scenario, and both carry 10-minute/25-minute operating limits in their exact manuals. The printed flow figures are not independent tests or enough to predict time for another tire.
The less-rugged Slime 40084 also has an internal battery, but its analog 0–60 PSI dial and manual on/off control do not document a selected-pressure stop. Its page and manual disagree about how many tires a charge fills, while the 40080 page and manual both say three. That difference can matter if target stopping or clearer charge-count evidence is a priority; neither battery model's published claims replace checking pressure, charge state and rest periods.
Assessment boundary
This is a source-based review rather than a hands-on test. The exact Slime 40080 product page, its product record and linked instruction manual support the distinct rechargeable arrangement, published scenarios and operating limits. Before choosing a seller offer, confirm part 40080, the included USB-C cable, the exact hose lever and adapter package, and whether the two-foot reach works for your setup. The sources do not establish accuracy, universal tire fit, runtime under a matched workload, operation while charging or a maximum working-pressure limit.
