Slime Digital Pro Power Tire Inflator 40063 review

A socket-powered 12V digital compressor with Inflate-Right target stopping, 1.23 CFM at zero PSI, a 15A-minimum outlet requirement and 27 feet of stated reach. The manual limits continuous use to 10 minutes followed by about 25 minutes of cooling.

A useful fit for

A documented option for a 12V accessory outlet and user-selected pressure stopping, provided the vehicle port is rated for at least 15A and the exact hose-head instructions are followed.

The main tradeoff

Its 0–99 PSI display does not specify maximum working pressure or accuracy; the manual forbids unattended use despite page wording inviting a walk-away stop, and the page/manual lever directions conflict.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does its digital display provide preset stopping?

Yes. The part manual describes setting a target and automatically stopping at it, with an on/off override. It does not permit unattended use.

Will it work from an older low-rated cigarette-lighter outlet?

The manual requires a 12V DC outlet rated at least 15A and warns against older 8A receptacles; verify the vehicle’s exact outlet. The 15A requirement is not a published current draw.

Can I use the 40063 with a ball adapter?

The page lists multipurpose adapters for balls and shows ball use. It gives no ball-pressure accuracy range, so follow the ball maker’s limit and supervise the inflation.

The Slime Digital Pro Power Tire Inflator, part 40063, is a 12-volt accessory-socket compressor distinguished by a backlit digital display and Inflate-Right preset stopping. Slime positions it for 4x4, SUV and truck applications, while its quantified fill-time example is much narrower: the manual names a standard P205/55R16 tire inflated from 0 to 35 PSI. This is a source-based assessment of that exact model, not an independent test or a claim of personal use.

Digital target control, with supervision still required

The manual describes entering a target with the plus and minus buttons, starting the pump, and automatic shutoff when the displayed pressure reaches that setting. It also allows the on/off control to override the preset. That is a real difference from Slime’s analog Pro Power 40031, whose manual describes watching the dial and switching the motor off manually. It is also a documented feature rather than a guarantee that the gauge is accurate: the 40063 display spans 0–99 PSI, but the reviewed sources do not give a gauge tolerance or maximum working pressure.

Slime’s page says a standard car tire can be filled in three minutes; the manual supplies the boundary condition of 0–35 PSI on a P205/55R16. Its 1.23 CFM rating is measured at zero PSI. Do not convert either statement into an expected fill time for a larger off-road tire, or infer that the digital display’s top number is the pressure the pump can safely deliver. A target should come from the vehicle label or owner documentation, with final pressure checked appropriately when the tire is cold.

Power and hose package

This model runs from a 12-volt accessory outlet. The manual requires an outlet rated at least 15 amps, recommends operating with the vehicle engine running, and warns not to start the vehicle with the inflator plugged in. The 15-amp value describes the minimum outlet rating, not the compressor’s measured current draw. The manual lists a 15-amp replaceable plug fuse; a fuse value should not be mistaken for continuous current consumption.

The 40063 package is described with a 9.8-foot power cord, a 14.8-foot green coil extension, a 2.2-foot quick-connect hose and 27 feet of total reach. The extension attaches to the built-in hose using the separate quick-connect coupling. The product page names a carry bag, adapter storage, bright LED light and multipurpose adapters for balls, rafts and other inflatables. The 1.23 CFM zero-pressure number describes compressor output at a different pressure condition from an actual inflated tire; it cannot be used to predict the time for every vehicle.

Use and connection details

The reviewed page and images identify car, bicycle, ball and inflatable use. The tire plan is a quick-connect press-on route, not a twist-on screw connection. However, Slime’s current page shows its green lever as lift-to-lock, while the linked part manual’s tire instructions say to push the lever down to lock. The manual separately says to pull the extension coupling up to unlock and push it down to secure an extension or adapter; that coupling instruction is not the same as the tire-head instruction. The article therefore does not tell a buyer to treat both levers as interchangeable—confirm the exact head and follow the matching documentation supplied with the unit.

The package’s multipurpose adapters support a ball-use route, but no ball-pressure accuracy range or low-pressure tolerance is published. Follow the ball manufacturer’s limit and stay with the pump. The product page also depicts a bicycle tire; it does not establish an included Presta adapter or a bike-specific pressure range. Verify valve style and any adapter needed before relying on the bicycle example. A 0–99 PSI display is not proof of precision at low pressure.

Heat, location and realistic drawbacks

The part manual limits continuous operation to 10 minutes, calls for roughly 25 minutes of cooling, and explicitly says not to leave the inflator unattended. It warns that the unit and fittings can become hot, says to operate outdoors or in a well-ventilated space, keep the vehicle in Park with its brake set, place the compressor on a hard clean surface, and avoid blocking its inlet or outlet. Thus the page’s casual “walk away” wording for preset stopping should not override the instruction manual’s supervision warning. Auto-stop is pressure control, not permission to leave an electrical compressor running without attention.

How it differs from nearby choices

The Expert Pro Power 40078 is also a socket-powered digital target-stop model, but its manual lists 1.31 CFM at zero PSI and a 10.2-foot lead with 27 feet of stated total reach; its page also specifies three LEDs and explains that older green and newer black hose levers operate differently. The 40063 manual lists 1.23 CFM, a 9.8-foot lead and 27-foot reach. Those figures are manufacturer specifications, not a controlled comparison. The Super Duty 40083 instead clamps to the vehicle battery, lists 1.6 CFM at zero PSI and 33 feet of reach. Choose based on verified power access, target-stop preference, hose arrangement and operating limits—not just small CFM or PSI-display differences. Before buying, confirm part 40063, the 15A outlet requirement, exact lever instructions, supplied adapters, manual and seller package.
