Slime Pro Power Tire Inflator 40031 review

A 12V accessory-socket inflator with an analog 0–100 PSI dial, 1.25 CFM-at-zero-pressure maker figure and 27.33-foot stated reach. Its part-specific manual requires a 15A-rated outlet and attended, cooled operation; target-pressure shutoff is not documented.

A useful fit for

A source-based fit for shoppers who want a 12V socket-powered tire inflator, a long coil-hose reach and manual analog pressure monitoring.

The main tradeoff

It does not document preset auto-stop, a pressure-accuracy tolerance, maximum working pressure or an included Presta adapter; the product page and manual disagree about tire-head lever direction.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does the Pro Power 40031 stop automatically at my chosen pressure?

No preset stop is documented for the 40031. Its analog dial and on/off switch require manual monitoring; compare the 40063 or 40078 if target stopping is essential.

Can I reach around a vehicle without moving the inflator?

Slime lists 27.33 feet of total reach with a 10-foot power lead and 15-foot extension hose. Route the exact supplied hose and outlet safely, and treat that as a manufacturer dimension rather than a guarantee for every parking layout.

Can the 40031 inflate a sports ball?

Slime lists multipurpose adapters for balls and depicts ball use. Follow the ball maker’s limit and remain present; no ball-pressure accuracy range is published.

Slime’s Pro Power Tire Inflator, part 40031, is a corded 12-volt compressor for a vehicle accessory outlet. Its most useful distinction is not a higher-looking PSI number: it is the combination of a manual analog dial, a vehicle-tire quick-connect head and a long supplied coil extension. This review is based on Slime’s current product page and the part-specific manual, not hands-on testing.

What the 40031 actually specifies

The manual lists 1.25 CFM at zero PSI, a 0–100 PSI dial scale, a 10-foot power lead, a 15-foot coil hose and 27.33 feet of stated total reach. The flow figure is a zero-pressure figure, not a tire-pressure flow rate. Likewise, the dial’s 100 PSI end mark is not a published maximum working pressure or an accuracy tolerance. Slime’s three-minute claim is tied to a standard P205/55R16 tire moving from 0 to 35 PSI; it is a manufacturer scenario, not a result I measured and not a promise for a larger tire, a lower vehicle voltage or a different starting pressure.

The product page describes an in-line, shock-resistant dial gauge, direct-drive motor, integrated LED, carrying bag, 15-foot green coil extension with twist disconnect, quick-connect air hose and multipurpose adapters for rafts, balls and other inflatables. Slime positions it for heavier vehicles such as 4x4s, SUVs and trucks, but the reviewed sources do not establish a maximum tire size or a rated working-pressure ceiling. Its long reach is useful for accessing wheels around a vehicle; it does not prove that the compressor can quickly recover a deeply deflated large tire.

Manual control is the decisive tradeoff

The 40031 has an on/off switch and analog pressure display. The part manual’s tire instructions tell the user to watch the tire and switch the compressor off at the vehicle maker’s recommended pressure. I found no target-setting control or automatic shutoff for this SKU. That makes it a poor fit if preset stopping is essential. The dial is a reading aid, not a substitute for checking the vehicle placard or owner’s manual and then verifying final cold pressure with a suitable pressure gauge.

That is where the Digital Pro Power 40063 and Expert Pro Power 40078 differ in a material way: their manuals explain Slime’s Inflate-Right target setting and automatic stop, while the 40031 remains manual. They are still not permission to leave the pump unattended. The Super Duty 40083 changes the power route as well as the control package: it uses battery clamps, not the 40031’s accessory plug. These distinctions matter more than treating all four “Pro Power” names as equivalent.

Power, reach and operating limits

The 40031 manual requires a 12-volt DC accessory outlet rated for at least 15 amps and recommends running the engine for best performance. That outlet rating is not a published current draw. The manual also says not to start the vehicle while the inflator is plugged in, to use the unit in an open, well-ventilated area rather than an enclosed garage, and to place it on a hard, clean surface. It limits continuous operation to 10 minutes, calls for about 25 minutes of cooling between uses and says not to leave it unattended. Those constraints still apply even though the bag and coil make the kit look ready for a long roadside session.

The 27.33-foot reach combines the vehicle lead, the main air hose and the extension arrangement listed by Slime; follow the manual’s connection sequence rather than assuming every hose can be left attached. Slime’s product-page instructions describe a green lift-to-lock tire head, while the linked manual’s tire diagram says to push the lever down to lock. The manual’s illustrated quick-connect also has a separate direction for inserting an extension or adapter. Because the page and manual disagree about the tire-head lever direction, check the instructions for the exact physical head supplied; do not guess from the hose color alone.

Where its attachments help—and where evidence stops

The page names ball and inflatable adapters and shows bicycle, ball and inflatable use. The standard high-pressure route can serve a documented bicycle use, but the sources do not name an included Presta adapter or set out a bicycle pressure range. Check whether the bicycle valve is Schrader or needs different hardware before relying on the broad bicycle-use depiction. For balls, use the documented ball attachment and the ball maker’s pressure limit; there is no ball-specific gauge-accuracy statement. The product page’s broader raft/inflatable adapter claim should not be read as a separately rated high-volume mode: the 40031 manual does not specify a second high-volume outlet or a volume-flow performance figure.

Who should compare it

Compare the Pro Power 40031 if you specifically want a 12-volt accessory-powered compressor with a long extension, an analog dial and manual control. Compare the Digital Pro Power 40063 or Expert Pro Power 40078 if a documented target stop matters and the vehicle outlet is suitable. Consider the clamp-powered Super Duty 40083 only if direct battery connections fit your vehicle and use routine; it is a different electrical hookup, not a stronger socket plug. Before purchase, confirm part 40031, the actual supplied hose-head version, outlet rating, included adapters and exact seller package. Neither the maker’s time claim nor an empty exact-string recall lookup establishes universal tire compatibility, product condition, availability or safety clearance.
