A useful fit for

A source-based choice for a rider who wants the standard Recon Mini SL aluminum Presta-head compressor and a purpose-built bicycle frame carrier in one exact package.

The main tradeoff

The carrier adds storage rather than battery or compressor capacity, VIAIR's approximate 95 g complete-system weight is ambiguous about whether it includes the pump, and the carrier still needs a fit check on the actual frame.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

What does the 62014 carrier add to the Mini SL?

The selector pairs the 60014 SL with the 61020 carrier. The carrier provides a cap-and-strap mount for most top tubes, seat tubes and saddle rails; it does not change the pump, battery, pressure control or manufacturer-listed tire scenarios.

Is 62014 the Clik-head SL package?

No. The 62014 selector label identifies the carrier plus Recon Mini SL, whose standard 60014 configuration has the aluminum Presta head. The Clik SL carrier package is a separate 63014-CA selector choice with Clik cores.

What full-charge bicycle examples does VIAIR publish for the Mini?

VIAIR lists three 30 mm road tires from 0–70 PSI, three 45 mm gravel tires from 0–40 PSI, or three 2.4-inch MTB tires from 0–20 PSI, with some charge left for top-ups. These are company examples, not independent tests or promises for different tires.

The VIAIR 62014 is the carrier-complete version of the Recon Mini SL. VIAIR’s selector names this exact choice “Recon Carrier + Recon Mini SL,” separating it from the standard brass-head 62010 and the two Clik-head carrier models. The useful distinction is not more air capacity: the 62014 pairs the standard 60014 SL compressor with the dedicated 61020 frame carrier. Its normal SL Presta head remains the valve route, while the carrier changes where the small pump is stored between rides.

An SL Mini with a mount, not a second pump

The underlying 60014 is the SL configuration with a machined aluminum Presta head, separate Schrader hose and half-PSI display increments. VIAIR’s 60014 page gives the pump a 2–120 PSI range, ±1 PSI claimed gauge accuracy, two 500 mAh lithium-polymer cells, a stated 3.7 Wh battery, under-one-hour charging, and a five-to-seven-minute maximum working window. The digital step and accuracy are different specifications: a half-PSI change on screen does not make the gauge accurate to half a PSI. The SL page also says the Presta head is 17 grams and claims a 30-gram saving against the standard Mini; the listed 60010 brass head is 42 grams, a 25-gram arithmetic difference. That discrepancy remains open, and it should not be converted into a claimed total-pump weight advantage.

The carrier product page describes a rattle-free cap-and-strap system, a weather- and crash-resistant enclosure, a replaceable hook assembly and fit on “most” top tubes, seat tubes and saddle rails. “Most” is not a measurement of your particular frame. Check tube/rail diameter, bottle cages, cables, suspension movement, rider contact and clearance before relying on a permanent mount. The carrier page lists an approximate 95-gram “complete system” weight but does not clarify whether that figure includes the compressor; the reviewed evidence therefore does not state an aggregate mounted weight. Nor does the carrier alter the Mini’s battery, pressure controls or run window.

What its battery claims mean in practice

VIAIR’s Mini pages advertise preset pressure and auto-stop. They give three full-charge examples for the Mini: three 30 mm road tires from 0 to 70 PSI, three 45 mm gravel tires from 0 to 40 PSI, or three 2.4-inch mountain-bike tires from 0 to 20 PSI, with some charge remaining for top-ups. These are manufacturer examples, not independent capacity tests and not a promise for a larger casing, higher starting pressure, cold-weather ride or another workload. The manual’s five-to-seven-minute maximum operating window is a separate limit and not a fill-time rating. Set a target from the tire and bicycle makers’ instructions, attend the inflation, and let the unit cool as directed.

The standard 60014 package uses its aluminum Presta head for bicycle valves and includes the separate Schrader hose and listed accessories. The carrier selector says it builds the system by pairing the selected Recon Mini compressor with the carrier. This assessment treats 62014 as the 60014 SL plus carrier, not as a bare chassis. However, a seller can split or repackage components; verify the exact item list and SKU rather than assuming every offer has all of the manufacturer package contents. The press-on/twist-on questionnaire options remain unassigned because VIAIR describes the SL’s fittings as a Presta head and Schrader hose, not as either tire-gun chuck style.

Good use case, clear limits

The 62014 is a reasonable documented fit for a cyclist who wants a preset-stop rechargeable Mini and would rather secure it on the frame than fish it out of a jersey pocket or bag. Its aluminum head is the standard SL Presta interface; it is not the Clik head and does not require conversion cores for ordinary compatible Presta valves. The 60014 page calls out an included ball needle, but that attachment alone does not establish sports-ball use or a ball-pressure range. Bicycle pressure still comes from the bicycle/tire maker, not the inflator’s maximum headline.

VIAIR says the Mini is not designed as a tubeless-seating device, though in some cases it may reseat a flat tire or inflate one already tightly fitted to a rim. That is not a dependable seating specification. The source materials also do not establish passenger-car use, a sustained duty cycle, pumping while charging or a precise fit for every frame. The standard 60014’s claimed accuracy is not an independent calibration, and its screen increment is not its tolerance.

Compared with 62010, the 62014 substitutes the aluminum-head SL compressor but keeps the carrier role; compared with 63014-CA, it has the standard Presta head rather than the Clik head and core-conversion bundle. This is a package-and-interface choice, not a higher-capacity model. The assessment comes from VIAIR’s exact configuration selector, 60014 materials and carrier page—not hands-on use or independent testing. Confirm the part number, included compressor, accessories, carrier hardware and mount fit before buying.
